Easy fix for bad DC external power socket on Compaq R3000 laptop Use a section of hobby electronics board,(from MAPLINS etc) cut to 8 strips wide, trim off center 6 copper strips so they don't enter the socket, solder on a new DC connector or use fly leads, +V is nearest the screen. -V is nearest the spacebar, easy workable fix that doesn't have you stripping out the motherboard, charge status light works as normal. This will work on other Compaq & HP with same port used for docking station or multi-media cable.HP XC1000
